I build wooden structures in oak, Latvian pine and douglas fir, using traditional building methods. The buildings are laid out by hand, joined with mortise and tenon joinery and then raised on site.

A carpenter's trade, done properly
I am Tom Schotman, a Dutch carpenter and timber framer. I learned this trade properly with the Northmen Guild in Latvia, and I am still a partner of the guild. Today I live in the Ikast-Brande area. Most projects are built in my workshop there and installed on site, anywhere in Denmark.
Full timber frames: a house to live in, a summer house, an annex, an inspiring workshop or a cabin. The frame is the building. Honest timber, visible joinery, no shortcuts.
Pergolas, carports, sheds, shelters and saunas. Outdoor structures in oak and douglas fir, joined the same way as the houses: mortise and tenon, pegged with wooden nails, built to sit outside for a long time.
The Northmen Guild
For years I built timber frame houses with the Northmen Guild in Latvia and taught on their timber framing courses. I am still a partner of the guild.
